Cathy Stoyko is a life long mover and maker born and raised in Vancouver. In 1997, after studying fine arts at Langara College and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design she moved to Denman Island. Since that time she has been an active member of the arts community in the Comox Valley as a dancer, visual artist, choreographer, event organizer and curator. Over the years she has traveled near and far to study many dance forms/styles including women’s traditional and sacred dances from India, Turkey, Central Asia and Iran. Cathy often incorporates the masks and costumes that she creates into her dance performances. She currently teaches dance classes and hosts workshops and cultural events at the Abbey Studio in Cumberland.
